Simple Reaction Time (SRT)
Description: The simple reaction time task assesses the ability of the subject to respond to an external cue and retrieve a reward. Mice are trained to make and hold a nosepoke increasing amounts of time before presentation of a tone which signals reward delivery. In multiple testing sessions, mice hold nosepokes for a variable amount of time before tone onset and then react to the tone by withdrawing their heads from the nosepoke port and moving to the fluid well to retrieve reward.
Purpose: This task assesses multiple aspects of signal detection and motor function.
